Matthew Trombly- Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator

Coach Trombly is entering his 6th year as Head Coach, and 20th year on the Hurricane Staff.  In 2016 he won his 6th Division I State Title and 1st as the Head Coach.  After winning the 2016 Championship, he was awarded Vermont Division I Coach of the Year, and USA Today Vermont Coach of the Year.  In 2017 the Hurricanes finished as runners up.

Trombly attend Springfield High School, in Springfield VT, graduating in 1995.  He then attend John Carroll University in University Heights, OH.  Graduating in 1999.  Upon receiving his teaching degree in K-12 Physical Education, Trombly taught 1 year in Solon, OH before returning home to VT.  His career in Hartford began as the Head Middle School coach, from which he quickly transitioned to coaching with the Varsity Staff.  Trombly coached both Quarterbacks and Defensive Ends as well as coordinating the Offense.  He spent his years as an assistant under Vermont legend  Mike Stone.  Trombly is proud to carry on the tradition Stone set forth, keeping the ball on the ground with the Wing-T offense and bringing pressure with the 4-2-5 defense.

He resides in White River Junction with his 4 children Brayden, Paige, Ryland and Colby and his wife Aimee.  He teaches Physical Education at Hartford High School.  He enjoys time with his family doing many outdoor activities.

    Coach Porter is entering his 5th season with the Hurricane Varsity staff after 4 successful years working with the Hartford Minicanes program.

    Porter attended Hanover High School , Hanover, NH, graduating in 1979 achieving all-state honors as a defensive end and tight end.

    He then attended Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA graduating in 1983 after playing football and Lacrosse during his time in College as well as coaching youth football.

    Porter returned to the Upper Valley in 1988 to run his family construction company in Norwich, VT after a brief career in restaurant management in New Jersey.

    He coached the offensive & defensive line for the Hanover Middle & High School programs for over 24 years being named NH Assistant Coach of the year in 1999 and winning 4 State Championships during his tenure.

    He resides in Quechee, VT with his wife Lynn and their son Nick (Daughters Megan & Kelsey have finally moved out!).  Porter enjoys traveling with his family, scuba diving and eating chicken wings.
